Marble worktops — character, benefits & coverage

About Marble Worktops

If you’re looking at marble worktops, you’re not just choosing a surface. You’re choosing the part of the room that gives the whole space its character. Marble has a softer, more natural movement than most materials. The veining and tone change across the full slab, which is why it needs to be seen properly before you decide.

If you’re choosing from small samples, this is the part you don’t see. Once it’s across a full kitchen or vanity, it can look completely different. At RH Stone Surfaces, we supply, template, fabricate and install marble worktops from our South Shields showroom and workshop, covering projects across the North East.

Why Homeowners Choose Marble

Unmatched Natural Beauty

Marble offers a classic, timeless aesthetic with unique veining that gives every surface a distinct character.

Cool Temperature

Naturally cool to the touch, marble is favored by bakers and pastry chefs for working with dough.

Brightens the Space

The natural translucency and light colors of many marbles reflect light beautifully, brightening up any kitchen or bathroom.

Premium Investment

A well-maintained marble worktop adds significant value and luxury appeal to your property.

Versatile Applications

Perfect for kitchen islands, vanity tops, splashbacks, and statement pieces in any room.

Our Process

We handle the full process: advice on slab choice, accurate templating, fabrication, and clean installation. Most customers contact us once their kitchen units are fitted and the project is ready for accurate measuring. From there, we arrange templating, fabricate the worktops in-house at our South Shields workshop and handle the full installation. Having templating, fabrication and fitting under one roof means fewer handoffs and a more controlled result for both domestic and trade customers.

Looking at other materials as well? Start with our main kitchen worktops collection to compare marble, quartz, granite and porcelain properly.

Common Questions

Is marble suitable for kitchens?

Yes, but it requires more care than quartz or granite. Marble is porous and can stain or etch if spills are not wiped up quickly. However, many people love the natural patina it develops over time.

Do you supply and install marble worktops across the North East?

Yes. We supply, fabricate and install across Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham, North Shields and nearby areas.

How do you price marble worktops?

Pricing depends on slab choice, layout, thickness, cut-outs (hob/sink), edges, and installation requirements. Send your plan and we'll quote properly.

Can I view full slabs before choosing?

Yes. Our South Shields showroom holds a range of full slabs. Viewing a full slab gives a much clearer sense of the veining, finish and scale than a small sample alone.
